Vacation

Im off to England for 2 weeks.  so no tumbling for me, and i hope to leave some politics behind as well.  i’m going to that great socialist evil NHS loving empire over there somewhere.  You know, on one of my work visa summers over in england i got an NHS card.  i have no idea if there was a statute of limitation on it or not, or if i am eligible for being married to an english chick, or even if our daughter is eligible for the NHS.  I’ll try to find out.

anyway, go england

I really reject the notion that the American people oppose this because somebody on the Republican side has deliberately spread misinformation about the plan,” [Sen. Kyl] said on a conference call with the news media. “In this democracy, there is no way voters can be fooled to this extent.

‘Death Panels’ Aren’t the Half of It, Says Senator Kyl - Prescriptions Blog - NYTimes.com

You want to bet?

(via robot-heart-politics)

ha ha ha

this is why he is a senator, he doesn’t know shit about the american people.

FOX and friends are real good at mobilizing the crazies to get out and pressure the congress, and for some reason, the left does not have the same passion as it did last fall.  why?  what the hell is wrong with us.  why are we letting this happen?

Q: Should the federal government be getting involved with living wills and end-of-life questions — decisions that are highly personal and really difficult?

A: It already is.

“The government requires hospitals to ask adult patients if they have a living will, or “advance directive.” If the patient doesn’t have one, and wants one, the hospital has to provide assistance. The mandate on hospitals was instituted during a Republican administration, in 1992, under President George H.W. Bush.”

from this fact check link.  but of course its a liberal brain wash fact check, not the real conservipedia kind of gut truth.

i don’t know how to make a link into an easy to click word.

Most Americans continue to want the federal government to focus on reducing the budget deficit rather than spending money to stimulate the national economy, a new New York Times/CBS News poll finds. Yet at the same time, most oppose some proposed solutions for decreasing it.
Matthew Yglesias » As Usual, Public Wants Lower Deficit Without Cutting Spending or Raising Taxes
Maybe we should ask California how well this works

i can’t help my self.
this is what is happening in miami too.  the public does not want any kind of tax increase, property or other, so the county government has to do some really nasty cut backs.  i will save my stories for later.  but, the public wants the same level of service.  that will not happen.  the mayor even wrote so in his letter to all gov employees.  they will get the government they pay for, he wrote.  yes they will, and i think they will not like what they see.
police and fire and teachers have incredible unions and will not face the cut backs and wage decreases, but everyone else does.  but, police don’t do any extra overtime work anymore, late night drunk driving stops and check points are all but gone.
so, you do get what you pay for. and you can’t have it both ways.  you want to fix the countries problems, you need to spend money, not cut back.  tax cuts are not what solves a depression.
i’ll stop now. (zaney)

Remember this, from the part of the election campaign when everyone feared choosing Palin for VP was a hail mary pass that just might work for McCain? It’s mentioned in Richard Wolff’s ‘Renegade: The Making of Barack Obama’ that I read on the plane today:
“[Obama’s] friend Marty Nesbitt shared with him an emailed photo, which summed up their collective response to weak kneed Democrats. It was a picture of the candidate delivering his convention speech, with the caption “Everyone Chill the Fuck Out, I Got This.”
Obama chuckled. “Exactly,” he said. “That’s exactly how I feel.”

oh god this made me laugh
